Application for 2015 Charitable Salmon Barbecue Now Open
February 1st, 2015 – Campbell River, B.C.
Marine Harvest Canada is now taking applications from charitable groups and societies for use of its salmon barbecue event trailer for this summer. The barbecue’s use guidelines and application form is now provided on Marine Harvest Canada’s website at http://marineharvest.ca/people/supporting-the-community/bbq-application-form/.
“Last summer’s barbecue season was a busy one for us,” says Cori Wheeler, chef and event coordinator. “Our team of volunteers raised over $31,000 for local charities on Vancouver Island and we’re excited to be out there again this summer.”
“We’re expanding our menu this year,” says Cori. “In addition to a grilled salmon burger, we’re going to provide salmon tacos as another healthy option.”
Since 2011, the company’s barbecue trailer has helped fundraise over $80,000 for deserving charities. The specially built trailer – which includes two large grills, four washing stations, hot water, and two fridges – helps raise funds for local charities by serving delicious salmon. It is certified for food use by the Vancouver Island Health Authority.
